Moving in Vancouver takes planning. Use this checklist to stay organized and stress-free from start to finish.

6–8 Weeks Before Moving Day

• [ ] Choose your moving date (avoid month-end if possible)
• [ ] Get 2–3 moving quotes — compare services, not just price
• [ ] Book your movers (summer and month-end fill up fast)
• [ ] Notify your landlord or property manager
• [ ] Start decluttering — sell, donate, or toss what you don't need
• [ ] Gather packing supplies: boxes, tape, bubble wrap, markers
• [ ] Book elevator access if moving to/from a high-rise

4 Weeks Before

• [ ] Begin packing non-essential items (off-season clothes, books, décor)
• [ ] Label every box with room and contents
• [ ] Notify: Canada Post address change, employer, bank, CRA
• [ ] Transfer or cancel utilities (BC Hydro, FortisBC, internet)
• [ ] Contact your children's new school if applicable

2 Weeks Before

• [ ] Pack most rooms — leave out only daily essentials
• [ ] Disassemble large furniture if possible

Moving Day

• [ ] Do a walk-through of the new place on arrival
• [ ] Check all items are delivered and nothing is damaged

After Moving Day

• [ ] Update BC driver's license and ICBC within 10 days
• [ ] Register with new doctor, dentist, and pharmacy
• [ ] Explore your new neighbourhood
